Jewelry Care

Sterling silver is made to be worn. With thoughtful care, your DALBIA jewelry will retain its detail while developing a character that is uniquely yours.

Everyday Care

To help preserve your jewelry:

  • Remove it before swimming, showering, exercising or sleeping.
  • Avoid prolonged contact with water, sweat and humidity.
  • Keep it away from perfume, hairspray, lotions, household cleaners and other chemicals.
  • Put jewelry on after applying cosmetics and fragrance.
  • Handle delicate chains, posts, clasps and movable components gently.

Chlorine, salt water and cleaning chemicals may accelerate tarnishing or affect the oxidized finish.

Cleaning Your Jewelry

After wearing, gently wipe the jewelry with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to remove moisture and skin oils.

For a deeper clean:

  1. Use a small amount of mild soap with lukewarm water.
  2. Clean gently with your fingers or an exceptionally soft cloth.
  3. Rinse briefly and carefully.
  4. Pat dry immediately and allow the piece to dry completely before storing.

Do not use toothpaste, baking soda, abrasive polish, silver dip or harsh chemical cleaners. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are not recommended, particularly for oxidized, articulated or delicate pieces.

Protecting the Oxidized Finish

The darker areas of DALBIA jewelry are intentional. Oxidation creates contrast and brings depth to recessed details.

Frequent polishing may gradually remove this darker finish, especially from raised surfaces. If using a silver polishing cloth, apply very light pressure only where you would like additional shine.

Over time, friction and regular wear may naturally brighten raised areas while recessed details remain darker. This evolution is part of the character of oxidized sterling silver and is not considered a defect.

Chains and Movable Parts

Fasten chains before storing them and keep each piece separate to prevent tangling and scratching.

For articulated designs, such as movable-jaw pendants:

  • Move the mechanism slowly and gently.
  • Never force the hinge beyond its natural range.
  • Keep the joint free from lotion, dust and trapped moisture.
  • Treat movable details as decorative components rather than toys.

Earrings

Always handle earrings by their main body rather than pulling on the post or decorative details.

Clean posts gently before and after wearing. Allow them to dry completely before storage. If irritation occurs, discontinue use. Individual sensitivities to metals can vary.

Storage

Store each piece separately in a dry, closed jewelry pouch or box. An airtight bag or anti-tarnish strip can help slow natural oxidation.

Avoid storing sterling silver in bathrooms, direct sunlight or other humid environments.

A Natural Material

Sterling silver naturally reacts with air, moisture and the environment. Tarnishing does not mean the metal is poor quality, and it can usually be managed through proper cleaning and storage.
